Release Function and Panel Discussion on the Report

Forum is organizing a release function and panel discussion on the report ‘Life, Livelihoods, Ecosystems, Culture: Entitlements and Allocation of Water for Competing Uses’ on 16 March 2011 from 4 to 6.30 pm at WWF India Conference Hall, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Shri Jairam Ramesh, Minister, MoEF, would inaugurate the function and release the report. Prof. A. Vaidyanathan has agreed to chair the function and Dr. Mihir Shah would deliver the keynote address.

Literature reviews on Right to Water for Livelihoods and Right to Water for Basic Needs
The present literature reviews on Right to Water for Livelihoods and Right to Water for Basic Needs have been carried out in the context of the position paper on Water Entitlements and Allocations for Livelihoods and Environment being prepared by the Forum. These literature reviews are prepared by Amita Kaushik. The Forum has come to its “position” after great deal of debate and brainstorming and this literature review has tried to support the position that the Forum seeks to adhere.

Water Conflicts Google Map
This is a very modest first attempt by the Forum to spatially locate the important conflicts around water in India with the help of Google maps. We are beginning this effort with the conflicts that we have already documented by the Forum. You could also contribute to this effort by sending in abstracts of conflict cases that you know.

Water Diplomacy Workshop
Water Diplomacy Workshop (WDW) is being offered by faculty at MIT, Tufts, and Harvard. This one-week train-the-trainer workshop aims to create a global network of reflective water professionals who are not only familiar with the theory and practice of water diplomacy but can teach the key ideas and methods to others in their own organizations.
