Opening for Research Associate Position at SOPPECOM

Society for Promoting Participative Ecosystem Management (SOPPECOM), Pune, on behalf of Forum for Policy Dialogue on Water Conflicts in India, is looking for a Research Associate (RA) for its work on Right to Water and Sanitation in India (RTWS).  
SOPPECOM is a voluntary, non-profit organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act and its primary objective is to promote and help the rural population, especially those who are dependent on their immediate ecosystem resources like land, water and biomass resources for their livelihoods, in the self-management of these resources as part of a wider process of equitable and sustainable development. In furtherance of this objective, SOPPECOM carries out research and advocacy, lends technical and knowledge support and also carries out pilot studies and action research. Presently SOPPECOM is also anchoring the project activities of the Forum for Policy Dialogue on Water Conflicts in India (for details see and is one of the knowledge partners in the campaign around right to water and sanitation in India.  Expected qualifications:
·         M. Phil./Post Graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
·         Two to three years of research and/or work experience preferred.
·         Proficiency in English and good speaking/reading/writing skills in Hindi and preferably in Marathi
·         Capable of independent writing in English.
·         Publications in peer reviewed journals.
·         Candidates with previous experience and/or background in the Water Sector will be preferred.
The RA will be based in Pune. The RA is expected to anchor the activity of the project with active guidance from SOPPECOM Faculty. The RA will have to be prepared to undergo a rapid and intensive grounding in RTWS issues. The work will involve travel and interaction with people from different backgrounds and regions ranging from senior officials, media, experts as well as grass roots activists. Remuneration will be commensurate with the applicants' qualification, experience and capability.
