Forum’s Orrisa State Centre has been set up in January 2009. Pranab R. Choudhury from SHRISTI will coordinate the Centre.
The Centre will do comprehensive analysis and documentation on the following major types of water conflicts in the state of Orissa.

1. Conflict around Water Uses : Industry Vs Agriculture
2. Conflict around Water Abuses : Pollution
3. Conflict around Water Excess : Flood related Conflicts
4. Conflict around Water Access : Water sharing in command areas

Major activities of the Centre will be

• Mapping and dissemination of information on water conflicts in the state and consolidating the information available in the Baitarani Basin in Orissa
• Engagement with Industry-Agriculture Conflict at Hirakud Dam (along with other conflicts in its catchment and command) and contributing towards methodologies and awareness raising for conflict resolution
• Influencing Policies for proactive conflict prevention
• Enhancing stakeholder voices by enabling informed choices
• Catalyzing crystallization of stakeholder forums
• Facilitating policy dialogues at different levels
• Influencing Policies for proactive conflict prevention
